Human Connector Tennis

More than a game. A place to belong.

A social-inclusion pilot bringing children, adults and families together through tennis, movement and shared experiences.

Starting 3 August 2026
Vișeu de Jos, Maramureș

ABOUT THE PILOT

Social inclusion through tennis

Human Connector Tennis is a community pilot created for people of different ages, abilities, neurotypes and life experiences, including complete beginners.

The programme combines tennis initiation, movement, group activities and social connection in a welcoming, flexible and encouraging environment.

The purpose is not only to introduce people to tennis, but also to support confidence, wellbeing, participation and a sense of belonging.

WHO IT IS FOR

Everyone deserves a place to move and belong

Human Connector Tennis welcomes:

• children aged 3–5;
• children aged 6–9;
• young people aged 10–14;
• teenagers and adults;
• complete beginners;
• people returning to sport;
• autistic and neurodivergent participants;

Participants will be organised according to age, experience and individual support needs, wherever reasonably possible.

For younger children and participants who require additional assistance, a parent, guardian or trusted support person may remain nearby and participate when appropriate.

THE CHILDREN’S PROGRAMME

Four sessions, a mini-tournament and a social experience

The first children’s programme includes:

• four structured group sessions adapted to age and ability;
• movement and coordination activities;
• introduction to racket and ball control;
• basic tennis skills taught through play;
• confidence-building activities;
• a friendly mini-tournament;
• a social activity for children and families.

The mini-tournament will take place after the first four sessions so that children visiting Maramureș during the summer can complete the programme before returning home.

The tournament will be adapted to each age group. For younger children, it will include playful challenges, coordination activities and simple tennis games rather than elimination matches.

The focus will be participation, encouragement and enjoyment.

CONTINUITY

What happens after the first four sessions?

Children who wish to continue will be able to join regular Human Connector Tennis sessions throughout August.

The continued programme will develop:

• movement and coordination;
• racket and ball control;
• the foundations of the forehand and backhand;
• serving and rallying;
• confidence on the court;
• teamwork and friendly competition.

At the end of August, we plan to organise a larger:
